Defense Language and National Security Education Office
Funds U.S. undergraduate and graduate students for intensive language and cultural study in world regions important to U.S. national security.
Who may qualify
Applicants must meet the current citizenship, enrollment, program, destination, language-study, and institutional requirements for the Boren Scholarship or Fellowship.
What the program provides
Funding for eligible language-focused study abroad and, for some graduate applicants, combined domestic and overseas study.
Service commitment
Recipients accept a federal service requirement after completing their funded study.
